For external candidates, official transcripts will be required if you are recommended for the position.  Your degree must be from an accredited university. If the position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Candidates with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report that includes a statement of degree equivalency from an accredited agency in the U.S.

Salary Min:   $81,487.00

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

 

Provides leadership and direction in the planning and implementation of ESOL program compliance reviews; researches and evaluates supplemental technology programs and initiatives specifically designed for English language acquisition and ESOL compliance and English language proficiency (ELP) assessment platforms; assists schools in the development, training, implementation and monitoring of ESOL compliance and assessment requirements to meet federal, state and district mandates; supervision of Title III technicians, including inventory control and needs assessments; coordinate and communicate with department of Infrastructure and System Support to align Title III deliverables provided to schools and regions.

 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

 

1.            Supervises the development, administration, and implementation of Title III and ESOL compliance program(s).

 

2.            Reviews implementation of ESOL compliance program(s) in relation to District policies, state and federal regulations and makes recommendations for improvement; participates in program reviews and training of school and district level administrators and staff.

 

3.            Assists school level administration and ESOL Compliance Liaison (ECL) in ensuring timely compliance with initial assessments, annual evaluations, English Language Learner (ELL) Committee Meeting requirements and documentation.

 

4.            Serves as a liaison between the district office, region offices and schools relative to District-wide instructional program requirements.

 

5.            Plans, conducts, and supervises staff development activities to ensure compliance with ESOL program mandates; assists in coordinating and conducting professional learning activities.

 

6.            Assists in the procurement, allocation, and distribution of Title III equipment relative to District-wide programs within the subject area.  Serves as District’s compliance resource for the subject area; supervises and conducting presentations; and participates in community, county, state, and national professional committees/organizations/associations.

 

7.            Assists the Administrative Director with the preparation and final review of the state mandated District ELL Plan.

 

8.            Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

This work requires the following physical activities: sitting, mobility, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.  The work is performed primarily indoors.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

1.            Master’s degree with certification in appropriate subject area for which applying (ESOL, Spanish, or other foreign languages), certification in administration and/or supervision, or educational leadership, or an approved plan to achieve such certification within two (2) years.

 

2.            Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in the appropriate program and area of certification.

 

3.            Minimum of two (2) years as a department chairperson or other leadership experience preferred.

 

4.            Familiarity with major trends and requirements in instruction, particularly as these relate to the subject field of certification.

 

5.            Acceptable evaluations for the past three (3) years.

 

6.            Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with others.

 

7.            Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms in English and Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or other foreign languages.
