BASIC OBJECTIVES
College Assistance Program (CAP) Advisors are School Support Personnel assigned to schools and report to the principal or his/her designee during the time they are assigned to the schools. Advisors work cooperatively with student services staff to assist with postsecondary planning and areas of college admissions applications, financial aid, and admissions test registrations.
JOB TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Helps students secure information for the selection of appropriate colleges, universities, vocational and/or technical schools.
2. Helps students secure and complete college admissions applications.
3. Helps students obtain and complete admissions test registration.
4. Helps students acquire and complete financial aid applications including:
a. Needs Analysis Forms
b. Institutional Applications
c. Student Loan Applications
5. Provides orientation programs for groups of tenth and eleventh grade students to delineate the services available through the College Assistance Program.
6. Obtains and utilizes current information relative to the college admissions process.
7. Refers students who are in need of expertise in other areas to appropriate student services staff.
8. Assists students with scholarship information and applications.
9. Plans, coordinates, and implements the following programs:
a. Parent(s)/student(s) Financial Aid workshops
b. College Forums
c. College Assemblies
10. Assists parents of students with postsecondary institution selection, admission, and financial aid information.
11. Speaks to parent groups and community organizations, regarding postsecondary planning and financial aid opportunities.
12. Performs other related duties as instructed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree. Experience in guidance, counseling, training in career education, postsecondary admissions or financial aid is preferred. Applicants must have good oral presentation skills.

Starting Salary: $53,053.00*
*(includes 6% Referendum Retirement Accruing Supplement of $3,003)
